NLS and ECG powerfully partner to surpass all expectations in reducing emissions and energy consumption.

In 2009, the Scottish Government set ambitious long term targets of 42% reduction in the Country’s greenhouse gas emissions from Public Bodies, by 2020. As the National Library of Scotland’s FM Framework Partner, ECG were up to the challenge and wasted no time in consulting, analysing and jointly innovating to introduce initiatives which have collectively achieved the targets set by 2015/16.
Since then the Partnership have continued to surpass all expectations and by 2017/18 had:
• Reduced GHG Emissions from its operations by 61.85%
• Reduced Energy Consumption by 51.80%
• Achieved Total Savings of £1,321,931 to date
No mean feat with limited financial & resource availability in critical environments protecting the nations irreplaceable collections.
Initiative has been entered as a study for the PFM awards.
