ACCOMMODATING MEASURES TO MAINTAIN COMFORT AT CHILDRENS HOSPICE
11 August 2020

Shortly after ECG tendered for, and won, the contract for Boiler Plant Replacement Works at Rachel House, Kinross, on behalf of CHAS, it soon became apparent that the works would not be quite as our M&E maintenance team had planned.

Existing pipework was not quite up to supplying the pressures required of today’s new plant operational integrity and, being a ‘home from home’ for terminally ill children our first priority was to ensure their comfort throughout the boiler plant and equipment installation.

This led to some quick thinking and liaising with SGN – the UK Gas Network organisation – from Gordon Russell, ECG’s Gas Compliance Manager, to create a temporary pipework work-around which delivered the necessary pressures whilst due process was gone through for a permanent modified solution which accommodated the newly installed boiler plant.

This was a prime example of innovative thinking, commitment and teamwork for the common good and earned high praise from the client, Childrens Hospices Across Scotland.

“The projects on-site team of engineers, together with Gordon Russell, have been brilliant in delivering the service, keeping the client fully engaged, whilst going that extra mile to ensure successful transition“.
