7 March 2024

ECG Facilities Services proudly participated in the recent Old Firm Legends Charity Football Match held at Hamilton Academical’s ZLX Stadium on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024. The event was organised in support of the esteemed children’s charity, Blameless, dedicated to providing joy and hope for families affected by alcoholism and addiction.

Representing both sides of the Old Firm, ECG’s own Stephen Hawthorne Jnr (Deputy Regional Manager) played for Celtic, whilst David Smith (Senior Support Engineer) pulled on the colours of Rangers. Our team’s involvement in this fantastic event underscored ECG’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.

Blameless Charity holds a special place in our hearts at ECG. Their mission to create positive experiences and lasting memories for children and families resonates deeply with our values. Operating from within the premises of Hamilton Accies’ Stadium, Blameless offers a sanctuary of support, providing recreational activities, educational opportunities and crucial emotional assistance for children and families of those affected by addiction.

The Old Firm Legends game brought together revered players from Rangers and Celtic, including Colin Hendry, Marvin Andrews, Bobby Petta, Rudi Vata and Paul Byrne, as well as local social media personality John Connolly, a fervent supporter of Blameless, joining the Celtic side.

The match was not only a highly competitive battle – but also a testament to the power of community coming together for a great cause, with an outstanding attendance of over 2,500 on the day helping to raise well over £10,000 for this fantastic charity on this memorable day for all!
