OVERVIEW

In early 2018, ECG were awarded the tender to undertake the upgrading of mechanical ventilation at Possilpark Health Centre in Glasgow. The project works were commissioned in order to make alterations in a bid to resolve overheating problems which were occurring within Possilpark Health Centre. As such, the works encompassed within this project were carried out within the Ground Floor (shared Reception Room and adjacent areas), First Floor (three individual practices) and Second Floor (Children and Families Team Leader Office and adjacent areas). The project works themselves were carried out by ECG’s dedicated in-house Projects Department who delivered the provision of new mechanical ventilation services and minor alterations to the existing ventilation services. Any requirements for specialist services were undertaken by ECG’s approved specialist subcontract partners, with the procurement, management and auditing of such subcontractors handled by ECG. After completing the above-noted works, Possilpark Health Centre was provided with adequate ventilation rates to areas previously affected by significant heat gains in summer months. Room temperatures are now able to be maintained at comfortable levels. Rooms where increased ventilation rates were not sufficient to offset potential summer heat gains, such as the Balmore Reception, were provided with a dedicated direct expansion cooling system. ECG operated as Principal Contractor for the entire project and delivered a high quality works package to NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde who were delighted with the standards achieved.
