5 sheltered housing complexes throughout Scotland Case Study
OVERVIEW
ECG were delighted to be awarded the contract to undertake the supply and installation of new heating equipment to communal heating systems within sheltered housing developments across 5 different Lots on behalf of Trust Housing Association at:
•Kirkriggs, Forfar;
•Shawholm Crescent, Pollokshaws;
•Victoria Court, Ayr;
•Bedford Court, Alloa;
•Houldsworth Court, Wishaw.
The scope of this contract covers the replacement of the existing gas-fired boilers, flue, pump sets, all associated pipework and automatic control panel within the Boiler Room at each of the 5 sheltered housing developments.
As with every heating upgrade undertaken on behalf of housing associations, minimising disruption to residents of the buildings was of utmost priority to ECG. To keep this disruption as low as possible, the works at each Lot were required to be completed within a 15-day working period (including pre-fabrication works) and were to include heating and hot water shutdowns of no more than 5 working days.
BACKGROUND
Trust Housing Association are a national housing, support and care provider, offering a range of accommodation and support services to primary older people in over 2,500 households across Scotland.
SERVICES DELIVERED
Replacing the existing gas-fired heating boiler with a new gas-fired water heaters within each of the plantrooms;
Strip out of existing heating flow and return pipework, heating circulating pumps, existing gas pipework, the existing vent pipework within each plant room;
Installation of new service isolation valves to minimise the disruption to services;
Replacement of existing non return valves and DHWS secondary pumps with new Senflux valves with single DHWS secondary pump;
Provision of new automatic control panels to suit the updated controls for the new heating/hot water plant;
Installation of a new automatic gas isolation system and manual push button within each plantroom;
Provision of temporary electric heating throughout each development during the period of the contract.
