ECG and Service Partners, Fleet Alliance, Raise Over £6,000 for Celtic FC Foundation
20 March 2023

In anticipation of Celtic FC Foundation’s 2023 Annual Sporting Dinner – which was successfully held on Thursday March 2nd at The Kerrydale Suite within Celtic Park and attended by team members, sponsors and supporters of the charity – ECG Facilities Services and Fleet Alliance collaborated to raise an impressive £6k, through the generous donation of a wonderful prize that attracted many bidders.

The donation from ECG and Fleet Alliance will help Celtic FC Foundation to continue delivering its “Ability Counts” projects in Glasgow, Dublin and Donegal which offers physical activity, sport and team-based play to the participants and allows them to experience a sense of freedom and provide them with opportunities to express their feelings in a relaxed, comfortable and supportive environment.

These projects have made a positive difference to the lives of many people with disabilities and follow a simple model of inclusivity, companionship and most importantly, fun. They began by engaging young people with Down’s Syndrome and have steadily developed over the years to also include sessions for those living with Autism and a stream for those aged 18+, which focuses on employability and mature learning opportunities.

The sessions are led by qualified coaches who tailor the activities to suit the particular needs and abilities of each individual and aim to enhance the participants’ self-esteem, confidence and social skills.

Tony Hamilton, Chief Executive of Celtic FC Foundation, expressed his gratitude: “I’d like to thank ECG, Fleet Alliance and our prize winner for the outstanding contribution they have made to our efforts. This will help us enormously, to continue to deliver our Ability Counts projects, among others. We are incredibly grateful for their continued and invaluable support of Celtic FC Foundation and for helping to make a positive difference to so many lives.”

ECG Facilities Services were delighted to support this worthy cause – the Celtic FC Foundation is a charity that aims to use football as a force for good in society, by alleviating poverty and promoting health, equality and learning in its communities. It has shown that everyone can enjoy the beautiful game regardless of their challenges, and has also demonstrated that football can be more than just entertainment; it can be a source of empowerment, inclusion and hope.
