OVERVIEW

ECG were delighted to be successfully awarded the contract to replace the Building Management System at Waverley Gate in Edinburgh on behalf of CBRE. The works encompassed upgrading the building to a new Building Management System, including local wiring and hardware change on all main Landlord equipment. Validation exercises were undertaken on the existing Landlord equipment, in line with the new BMS to gauge how well the building is performing vs base build data. From this collation of information, we reviewed the data and provided scope to action and re-balance the entire building wet side and ventilation systems. This was a complex project due to tight access restrictions imposed by the tenants, resulting in 85% of works being completed out of hours on a nightshift basis from 9pm until 6am in order to minimise disruption on-site.

BACKGROUND

ECG organised the site pre-start meeting and scope of works in line with CBRE’s requirements and attended multiple meetings with tenants to discuss the project and collate any issues the presented to us at that time. Following this, we created the site safety and programming information to allow the works to progress in the most suitable manner. We gave access to the main consultant, establishing a daily ‘live link’ to give up-to-date access to works, progress and any issues arising. Additionally, we catered for multiple different access restrictions to the client’s domain and issued the required documentation to allow safe entry. Finally, we held monthly progress meetings over the course of the 10 month project with CBRE to ensure constant communication.
